WAZIR AGHA LIBRARY

Wazir Agha Library (WAL) is an academic hub of research and discovery for the SU community. WAL offers outstanding multidisciplinary resources and services in support to university academic and research objectives. This prestigious library of Sargodha University has also been striving to support its users to solve the Socioeconomic issues prevailing these days. WAL is equipped with all required sources of information both in hard and digital formats. In addition to the facilities, our library is committed to accomplish the most pivotal role in information acquisition, organization, retrieval, access and use. The managers have always been focusing on enhancing the quality of system and services. Students, faculty, researchers and other stakeholders are encouraged, motivated and facilitated to take maximum benefit of the library. It is a matter of satisfaction that we have developed our web online public access catalogue (OPAC) that can help the users to reach our library database worldwide and remotely accessible 24/7.

            Late Wazir Agha is a prominent literary figure of Pakistan, a graduate and teacher of Government College Sargodha. He has published work on literary criticism, poetry and prose. He was also editor and publisher of the literary magazine “Auraq”

Services

In order to accomplish goals and objectives, WAL provide following services.

Government College Sargodha Archive

On special instructions of worthy Vice Chancellor, SU administration has established former Government College Sargodha Archive Center in Wazir Agha Library. This step would be a great opportunity for the coming generations to keep them connected with the revered history of the University.

HEC Digital Recourses/Digital Resources

WAL provides HEC digital portal to access international scholarly high quality, peer-reviewed journals, databases, articles and e-Books across a wide range of disciplines. The e-books support programme will allow researchers to access most of the important text and reference books electronically in a variety of subject areas. Around 75,000 number of electronic contents has been made available through the Digital Library Programme. Despite digital resources, WAL has a big printed collection of books (100,900) and, more books will be added over time.

Reference Service

Following are the main objectives of Reference Service: Assistance or instruction to use the Library, Assistance to identify library material and providing brief factual answers to the Reference Questions.

OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog)

It is a matter of satisfaction that we have developed our web online public access catalogue (OPAC) that can help the users to reach our library bibliographic database worldwide and remotely accessible 24/7.

Automate Circulation Services

Automated Circulation Service has been provided. Users may get this service by OPAC login.

Audio-visual Service

This service includes Video/Audio Cassettes/ CDs and other digital material. A new multimedia lab has been established to use AV Service on 1st Floor in Hall – A.

Library Orientation

This service includes: Library building / floor map/ Emergency Exit etc., Recommendation / Processing of books / reading material, Classification Scheme and How to find a book in the library.

Photocopy and Printing

To save the time of the readers, Two Photocopy machines have placed on 2nd floor where library readers avail the photocopy/printing service (short range only).
