Job Description
- Disseminate and interpret library collection material to meet the information, educational and cultural needs of students who are pursuing academic success and to support faculty who are engaged in knowledge creation and classroom instructions.
- Maintain an ongoing assessment of library and information services, use of technologies and resource collection that enhance and support the University’s academic curriculum.
- Provide, arrange of programs, services and materials/literature that strengthen the student’s purposeful participation in the issues that face our global society and that promote the student’s lively commitment to his/her own physical and/or spiritual well being.
- Provide skill and expertise in the University’s initiatives, such as digital library distance learning.
- Engage in the selection, acquisition, organization and preservation of integrated collection of books and journals. Creatively manage access and deliver in an expanding rich environment of global electronic resources.
- Annual counting of stock according to data.
- Demand more books in case of shortage of any subject
- Arrange the seats in the library in a manner that should not disturb others
- Maintain shelf and book cleanliness
- Maintain to repair all library equipment’s
- Develop and maintain system to list and record library holdings, acquisitions and registration of students for the purpose of issuance of books on loans and consultation transactions in the library.
- Perform routine maintenance of books and other material, review books, periodical and collections, which are out dated or not used and coordinate removal and disposition.
- Issue reminders to students to return the books after due date
- Make arrangements to charge of fine of Rs — per day after the due date of return of a book i.e. after 30 days
- Coordinate with the library committee on matters relating to the library and its services and to recommend any change or improvements for consideration of the library committee.
- Prepare estimates of the financial requirement of the library and the requirement of the books for various disciplines of the University
Job Requirements
Preferably PhD in Library & Information Science with specialization in Library Automation and having minimum 5 years experience.
